Reading the title, it’s easy to think through all these weaknesses of death or struggle and pain. Yet, what may be the worst is the chance we have to make choices.
Existentialists often find themselves talking about meaning and finding meaning in the things around us. From looking at the most ordinary of objects and disecting it into something magical like a coffee being the pure blend of warmth that sokes up the smoothest of textures to reach a state that upon your mouth is relaxed and you get the idea. Point being, making choices to find meaning can be one of the most difficult things to do in a world where to fit in, we almost lose meaning. It’s the choices we make that define us and how people view us.
Imagine not having choices. It would be so much easier if we all had a certain purpose to fulfil naturally rather than deciding ourselves but we do have to make these choices. It’s painful.
However, what we have to do is make the most of it and choose to make ourselves respected and choose to fnd meaning in our lives. Choose to make that risky decision- otherwise, not doing so leaves us floating along and waiting for something that will never come.
See, lifes greatest weakness is that we have to make choices for ourselves but it’s also its greatest strength. It allows us to develop and we can be whoever we want to be. It’s just a matter of choice.
I’d love to hear your opinions on this.
